When Should You Book Seasonal Snow Removal in Connecticut?

By ResiSnow · Updated October 2026 · Windsor, CT

If you're thinking about snow removal in October, you're right on time. Most homeowners in Windsor and East Windsor start looking for a snow company after the first flakes fall — and by then, the seasonal routes are already full. Here's how the timing actually works, and why booking now saves you money and headaches later.

October is booking time

Snow removal routes are built in the fall, not the winter. Every truck, every driver, every route has a real limit — there's only so much clearing that can happen between storms before daylight and equipment run out. Once the seasonal spots on our routes are taken, they're gone. We stop selling seasonal packages when the routes fill, full stop.

Booking in October means your driveway details are on file, your package is locked in, and you can forget about winter until it snows. Our season runs November through March. You pick a package — Basic with two visits per storm, or Premium with three visits on a set schedule (7 AM, 12 PM, and 5 PM) plus salting — and that's it. One price, paid by check, all winter. No per-storm phone calls, no "will they show up" anxiety.

What happens if you wait until December

Every year, the same thing happens: the first real storm hits, and our phone rings off the hook with homeowners who meant to sign up. Here's the honest answer we give them — if the seasonal routes are full, we can still help, but only as a per-visit customer.

Per-visit service works like this: standard driveway $115 (up to 4 cars deep by 2 wide), large driveway $140 (up to 8 cars deep by 2 wide), long or hill driveway $220, and emergency clearing with immediate deployment $300. Each visit covers up to 6 inches; over 6 inches is billed as two visits, and heavy, wet snow carries a 25% surcharge. Prices reflect current fuel, insurance, and operating costs and are subject to change.

That's real service — but it's not the same as being on a seasonal route. Seasonal customers are in the route plan before the storm starts; per-visit customers get cleared when there's room around the plan. After a few storms, the math favors the seasonal package too — check the numbers on our snow removal cost page and see where your winter lands. If you're on the fence between the two, our seasonal vs. per-visit comparison walks through it plainly.

Bring your neighbors and book early together

There's one more reason not to wait: the discounts reward early, decisive booking. Refer someone who signs up for the season and you get $100 off your seasonal package. Active military and veterans get $150 off seasonal packages. Neighbors on the same street make routes tighter and winters easier — so if your street is half-decided, October is the month to get everyone in. One call, a whole block covered.

What to have ready when you call

A two-minute call is all it takes, but it goes faster if you know your driveway. Roughly how deep and how wide is it — a standard two-car driveway, a large one up to 8 cars deep, or a long or hill driveway? Do you want the walkway cleared, the sidewalk, or both? And which package fits your life: Basic with two visits per storm, or Premium with three visits at 7 AM, 12 PM, and 5 PM plus salting? Seasonal packages are paid by check, and we'll confirm everything in writing before the season starts. No forms to fill out, no portal to log into — just a conversation with the people who will actually be clearing your driveway.

The bottom line: the season runs November through March, and the spots go in October. If you're reading this now, you're in the window. If you wait until the first storm, you're hoping there's still room.

We don't just plow snow. We do it for a purpose — every customer gets a $5 donation made on their behalf to the cancer charity of their choice. Call ResiSnow at (860) 812-7669 to reserve your seasonal spot in Windsor or East Windsor, CT, before the routes fill.
